I too play DCS (steam edition and standalone. Originally posted by deerleggs:Yo bigcringe! I ran across your post in my 17th hour of a mandatory update and figured I’d chime in. Putting a Mig or F-16 down is more difficult and fun in my opinion. Plus it’s not as challenging as Dcs modules are. You’re going to find yourself buying another flight sim because you don’t want your PC held hostage for 20 hours for a download (and not play any other steam game for that matter while it downloading because as far a steam goes your playing the game). If you want to fly over your house, you can (if you have decent internet). I bought Xplane after buying this because I still wanted a flight Simulator. The Steam log says I have 150+ hours of play half of that is just download time. If you play the standalone Dcs you know you can defer the new update because it’s not mandatory!! Do it at your own leisure. So don’t look at Dcs and think oh it’s only blah blah blah more gigs this won’t take long. If you play DCS steam edition the download is smooth like every other game. That release will be buggy (just see other discussions after release for the proof of that) so a month later your going to have another mandatory update to fix those bugs. It takes forever because it’s about 260 zip files downloaded to your PC and extracted one at a time before downloading the next zip file. I mainly game on the standalone version because modules are constantly on sale there versus steam)Įvery 3 months or so you are going to spend 20 hours redownloading the sim (Mandatory Update). Yo bigcringe! I ran across your post in my 17th hour of a mandatory update and figured I’d chime in.
